The firm of D. Dickson was founded in 1924 by David Dickson. He left his job and decided to go into business. He borrowed £5.00 from a friend and travelled to London to get agencies, succeeded and commenced trading at 22 Russell Avenue, Dublin 1.
In the early years he moved to 18 Fleet Street and subsequently to 47a Fleet Street, Dublin.
The Company specialised in Brakes & Clutches, Automotive Bearings and the agencies included Renold Chains, Breco Piston Rings and Covmo Pistons.
In 1959, the Company moved to Talbot Place and employed a staff of 10. As business continued to prosper and expand they had to move yet again to larger premises in Portland Street off the North Circular Road. Another move came in 1977 then occupying 535, 537 and 539 North Circular Road backing onto Russell Street, a site which was formerly Rowans Seeds factory.
In 1976 with the expansion of industrial bearings & transmissions,
Dickson Bearings & Transmissions Ltd., was formed trading from 12-16
Russell Street, North Circular Road, Dublin 1.
In 2002, we moved to a state of the art, purpose built facility located
in Northern Cross Business Park.
